Student councils in the Edmonton area

- I searched on google for a website for informations on Student Councils in High Schools I did not find any.

- I search four local High School websites and did not find any detail on how their Student Councils operate.

- From a conversation I know that ESSMY in St. Albert has an elected Student Council.

Questions for other Schools about student leadership here are the results from memorial

1. What types of leadership courses does your school offer if any?
Our school offers leadership 15/ 25/ 35. These classes are offered every second Tuesday from 3:10 - 5:00. The first class starts on Tuesday, September 15. Student Council meets every Monday @ lunch. The two are closely related. Everyone on Council is in Leadership, however, you can take Leadership without being on SC.

2. What types of opportunities for leadership are there available to students?
- student council, leadership conferences

We go on a Team Building Leadership camp (day trip usually to YoWoChAs). Students also have the opportunity to attend the U of A, Provincial and National Leadership conferences. U of A (weekend), Provincial (3 days this year in Edmonton), National (8 days next year in Montreal)

3. How do student leaders interact with student body?
??? Thru activities, events, assemblies, fundraisers

4. How are students involved in the selection process for student council and school council representative?
Everyone is welcome. Co-presidents are elected within the council. Activities, events and projects are chosen by you as Leadership projects. All projects ok'd by advisors, are supported by Council (meaning others on Council will assist in your event.)

We have a large council of about 25 - 30.
